Islam 101: The Fundamentals of Islamic Beliefs and Practice

Course Description:

I created this course around 2010 to help a group of converts in Dearborn, MI. I taught it in person for several rounds and then online for several more. Then I have offered it as a self-paced audit course for many years. Over this period, more than 3000 people have taken it. I am now offering it as a live course once again.

This class is ideal for the following groups:

  • Converts to Islam
  • Born-Muslims who want to reconnect with their faith from the basics
  • Non-Muslims who want to explore Islam thoroughly before deciding whether or not to convert
  • Teachers in Islamic schools who need to strengthen their knowledge so they can educate young Muslims

Students will learn the basics of Islam in a thorough, systematic way. If they attend regularly and study diligently, by the end of the course, they will have a solid foundation as a Muslim. They will know what they believe and why; how to fulfill their basic duties; and where to refer their questions.
