Course Description:
In this course, students who have successfully completed BAR and IART will practice their skills in Qur’anic recitation with Shaykh Rizwan.
Course Structure:
- Each week, students will prepare 2-3 pages from the Qur’an. They will be expected to practice these pages every day along with a recording of Shaykh Maḥmūd Khalīl al-Ḥuṣarī. In class, students will recite for the teacher, and the teacher will correct them and drill them on tajwīd rules.
- Live classes will be conducted via Zoom
Requirements:
- Student must be at least 16 years old (exceptions by teacher’s discretion).
- Student must have successfully completed IART or equivalent course in tajwīd. Teacher will test enrollees to ensure good fit.
- Students must keep webcams on for the duration of each live session.
Homework:
- Student should expect to invest 20 minutes per day completing assignments.
Dates and Timings:
- Dates: Week of Jan. 19 to Week of Jun. 1, 2025 (15 Weeks)
- Break: the month of Ramadan will be off
- Weekly live session: Thursdays 9-10pm EST.
Attendance Policy:
- Please note that Islamic Literacy has a strict attendance policy as part of its effort to promote a positive learning experience. The minimum requirement for any class is that you show up! You are allowed only one unexcused absence. Further absences are grounds for expulsion from this course. Preplanned absences for work and travel must be approved by the admin@islamic-literacy.org. Medical and family emergencies must be explained before or soon after to the admin@islamic-literacy.org.
