Course Description:
Family Qurʾān Study is a course for the entire family. It offers families the opportunity to come together around the Qur’an to study, discuss, and grow. Participating families will study selected sūrahs with the help of study questions designed to encourage reflection and curiosity. All participating families will convene for a weekly live session with Shaykh Rizwan to share the fruits of their family discussions and ask questions that will inevitably arise.
Course Structure:
- Each week, students will be assigned a passage from the sūrah under examination. Participants should practice reading the Arabic until they can recite it fluently. They should also read through the translation deliberately.
- Each family member should answer the discussion questions individually.
- The family will then convene during the week for at least a two-hour discussion. In this session, they will:
- recite the passage by turn in Arabic
- read the translation
- share and discuss their answers to the assigned questions, making note of unanswered questions to raise with the teacher
- All participating families will attend a weekly live session with Shaykh Rizwan via WizIQ.
Prerequisites:
- High-speed internet connection and webcam.
- Students must be proficient in using their computer and the internet.
Homework:
- Students should expect to invest 2 hours per week completing the assignment and discussing with their family.

- Term Dates: Mar. 3-Apr. 26, 2019 (8 Weeks)

Attendance Policy:
- Regular attendance is critical to success in this course. We ask that all family members make their best effort to attend every live class.
Course Fee:
- $150 per family (this will be requested from you after you register)

- The Qur’an: With a Phrase-by-Phrase English Translation by Ali Quli Qara’i or the Study Qur’an by Seyyed Hossein Nasr et al.
